On this day, 191 people were killed when al-Qaeda-inspired terrorists attacked Madrid's commuter rail system. Close to 2,000 people were also injured. I had only recently moved to Madrid in January of 2005 when I happened upon the opening ceremony of this memorial in Retiro Park.
